Amazing Comics has announced Undiscover’d, a new line of comic books co-created by Joe Quesada and Charles Dorfman. Each title rethinks a particular Shakespeare play through bold new genres and settings, while preserving original character names and core themes. All stories unfold in our world versions. It is familiar, yet rethinks through the lens of genre, time and imagination.

“Shakespeare’s theme was similar to when he first put Quill on paper, and by rethinking his work through a modern lens, allowing him to explore those truths in a thrilling, unexpected, and emotionally realistic way,” Quesada said. “At the heart of this is the classic tales, the rediscovery of the strange magic hidden in our own eyes, and the vision of the eyes. We are not building a new universe. We reveal the fantastical layers of what we already live in. These are familiar stories of fantastical imagination.”

The first title to arrive at the Line is a dramatic rethinking of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, co-written by Charles Dorfman, writer and director of Quesada and Barbarian, and producer of Oscar-nominated The Lost Daughter. Dorfman will make his comic debut with a series drawn by Quesada and Inker Wade von Grabadger, along with colorist Richard Isanob and letter Joe Caramana.

“The stories discovered in the future range from genres to science fiction, horror, hard-boiled crime fiction, war and fantasy,” Quesada said. “These stories may jump on genres we know for centuries and even planets, but they are all grounded in the same world. We already have the incredible talent for our talent. It announces that in weeks and months more creators will win more creators.
