Set in an alternate time period in the mid-2000s where supernatural beings have been emerging from portals to other dimensions for the past few decades, “Raise Hell” tells the story of three teenage friends who summon a little demon friend.

The problem they have is that the demon ants are so bound to them that they cannot leave their side. In a way, the ants are physically bound to them.

Demonic beings are allowed to attend school, but ants are more like familiars. Familiars have been shown to be a distraction to students, so ants are not allowed on school grounds. So what happens when summer break ends and they have to go back to school?

I’ll tell you what happens: a practical joke.

This is another excellent issue of Raise Hell with a unique premise and a gently entertaining atmosphere. The issue is surprisingly eventful, with the backstory of one of the central trio becoming somewhat important as we learn a bit more about the witches who exist in this unusual yet familiar world.

It’s a shame that Amazon has all but discontinued their excellent Comixology app over the last few years, as it’s now much harder to find unique indie titles like Raise Hell, but it’s well worth the hunt!

Raise Hell is exclusive to Comixology. You can check out and download issue #2 from Amazon here.
