In Altered States: Warlords #1, the warrior Red Sonja finds himself transported to Mars. This is Mars from the John Carter story. This region, known as Barsoom, is full of warring factions and strange, often dangerous creatures. Sonya’s adventures here lay the groundwork for many other characters from across the Dynamite roster to appear in this crossover series.
Altered States is the Dynamite version of DC’s Elseworlds and Marvel’s What If…? Things get off to a really strong start here, and as a Sonya fan, I really enjoy watching her interact with the creatures and characters of Barsoom, especially as she gains superhuman powers in her transition from Hyrcania to the Red Planet.
The artwork is great, with lots of great designs in terms of characters and settings. In short, this is a really satisfying start to Pulp Worlds Clash, and while one or two of the characters may not seem like an ideal pairing (Vampirella is probably the oddest choice), it’s clear that Dynamite wants to bring together as many of their licensed characters as possible. And who can blame them?
Hello! I’m Jason. I write articles for midlifegamergeek.com every day. If you’re interested in supporting original, regularly published, human-generated content (that’s never been plagiarized or copied through the efforts of other writers), please help us keep this site running by making a donation.
Not only do I not earn any money from my writing here (although I do earn a small commission from affiliate links posted on my page, but as an Amazon Associate I do earn from qualifying purchases from these links), my work sometimes seems to be stolen and repurposed by lazy, morally bankrupt idiots.
There’s no pressure, of course, but we really appreciate any support you can provide. You can easily support us through Ko-Fi.com/geekmid or the PayPal link.
Thank you very much for your donation. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to read my article. Please remember. This entire article is by Jason Brown and can be found at midlifegamergeek.com. Take that, Skynet!
