Wonder War storyline announced by DC Comics

Back in 2023, DC rebooted its ongoing title Wonder Woman with the creative team of writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere. The past two years have seen some big new developments for the Amazonian warrior, most notably the arrival of Wonder Woman’s daughter, Lize Prince, aka Trinity. The creative team also introduced some major new elements to Wonder Woman’s Rogues Gallery, including the Matriarch. Everything builds to the publisher’s promise that Wonder War will be the duo’s most ambitious story yet, starting with Wonder Woman #31 this March.

The publisher describes the upcoming storyline as follows:

Set 20 years in the future, Wonder War is a battle against the darkest timeline imaginable. The Justice League is dead, the DC Universe’s villains (even Lex Luthor!) have bowed their knees, and the patriarch, first introduced in the sold-out Wonder Woman #25, has seized power as Queen of America. Against this backdrop, Diana and her adult daughter Trinity must unite against an enemy who threatens to conquer the entire world.

The story is as much a war epic as it is a family story, pitting Wonder Woman’s ideals of compassion and justice against authoritarian conquest. With Trinity’s role at the forefront, Wonder War is not just a battle for Diana, but a generational battle for the very soul of the DC Universe.

The Matriarch begins a crusade to rule the DC Universe. As heroes and villains alike succumb to her insurmountable powers, Wonder Woman and her daughter Trinity must unite to save all they hold dear. Time is running out for the princesses of Themyscira, and Queen America will not rest until they submit to her will. The Eisner Award-nominated creative duo of Tom King (Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow) and Danielle Sampere (Dark Crisis) return with their most captivating installment of the Wonder Woman epic to date.
