Dynamite Entertainment, the comic book publisher behind hits like “The Boys,” just announced plans to help develop a tabletop role-playing game based on the beloved 80s animated series “Thundercats” (and now Dynamite Comics). The game launched today on Kickstarter and has already raised around $12,000.

Dynamite announced in a press release that Lynvander Studios designed and wrote the campaign and setting book for Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition. Lynnvander assembled TTG luminaries such as Tommy Gofton, Devin Wilson, Bryan CP Steele, Josh Derksen, and Adam Petkovic for the project, which follows previous collaborations with Dynamite including the recent Reanimator game.

Here’s how the publisher describes the gamebook: “Through nearly 250 pages of mechanics and lore, featuring official artwork and stunning designs, gamers can live out their Saturday morning memories and unique adventures ripped from Dynamite’s latest blockbuster official comic book.Thundrillium Harnessing the power of , players maintain technology, pilot spaceships through cosmic storms, and wield magical weapons and ancient spells. On the plains of Third Earth, where laser rifles and mystical blades alike clash, wizards and robots duel, and both raw courage and energy cells are key resources, this essential book brings ThunderCats action, spectacle, and excitement to tabletop settings and game nights for years to come.

“For die-hard Cats fans, it’s also full of rich references and visions of the series, making reading just that much more enjoyable. Among them, readers will find information about the Code of Thundera, artifacts such as the Book of Omens and the Eye of Thunder, key history of the Great Migration, the war with Pran’d’ar, the Escape to Third Earth, and the rise of Mum-Ra.”

“Through the character creation process, players can choose from among newly created subclasses such as Mechanist, Path of Clash, College of Omens, Ancient Spirits of Evil and Good, Circle of the Croft, Operator, Claw Warrior, Oath of Fate, Seeker of Evil, Heckler, Transfiguration Magic, Mongol Patron, and Sorcerer. Various character backgrounds will then appear, and you will also be able to create your own Thunderian design. To create your build, you can choose to look and be strong, fast, tough, smart, or proud. Those looking for extra fun or a unique playstyle can play as a human, Snarf, Barbil, Snowfolk, Taska, or even a mutant, and then each adventure offers a unique experience.

“Character bios and complete skills and stats are also included in existing ThunderCats It’s available for almost every established character from the mythology of the game, and players can encounter and form alliances during their journey, or adapt their builds to embody their favorites. ”

According to the announcement, the gamebook also details universe-wide settings, including Third Earth, New Thunder, and other dimensions (which are broken down and can be explored through gameplay). Players can use a wide range of equipment and vehicles, all of which they can access during their adventures. The book comes with visuals and a comprehensive index.

The book is currently available for pre-order on Kickstarter and is available in three editions. The basic hardcover version features David Nakayama’s cover for ThunderCats #1, which ushered in the dynamite era of new comic book stories. The limited edition print features Nakayama’s illustrations and focuses on Lion O, placing him in front of the bursting franchise logo and glowing with red accents. If you prefer the deluxe version, you can opt for the premium leather-covered version with the ThunderCats logo on the cover.

The campaign runs until January 16th.
