Amazon’s Kindle Scribe is $85 off on Prime Day

Kindles that allow you to take handwritten notes are on sale for Amazon Prime Day. The 16GB model of Kindle Scribe is currently $85 off, reducing the price to $255 instead of the usual $340. This isn’t an all-time low, the e-reader just recently hit $240 on Prime Day in July, but this is the lowest price we’ve tracked since then. And while there’s a good chance we’ll see a new Kindle or two, nothing is confirmed yet.

That’s about $15 more than the Prime Day sale price in July, but the lowest price since then.

$255 on Amazon

Kindle Scribe is our pick for the best E Ink tablet that is also an e-reader. There’s very little wait time when it comes to drawing and handwriting notes, and I like that the basic stylus is included in the price (rather than buying it separately like some E Ink slabs). You can also choose from a variety of brush types, including fountain pens, markers, and pencils, and easily create and manage notebooks that take advantage of these stroke styles.

Kindle Scribe’s full review gave the device a score of 85, once again praising its writing experience, premium build, and generous screen size. One thing to note is that most Kindle e-books do not support writing in the margins. There is also a small library of titles that you can doodle directly onto the page, but most are crossword and planner titles. In most e-books, you create notes in a pop-up window linked to the text.

As an e-reader, Scribe has some features that other e-readers don’t have, such as the ability to read two pages side-by-side when the screen is in landscape orientation. It also features a flash front display and an auto-adjusting warm front light. I also like that I can easily read library books I borrow on my Kindle. Additionally, a recent update allows you to convert your handwriting to text so you can email it to your contacts.
