According to Samsung, the T9 is about twice as fast as the T7 (our current pick for the best external SSD for PS5). The company claims it can transfer a 4GB video in almost 2 seconds and 90 minutes of 4K video (21GB) in 12 seconds. The 2-lane USB interface delivers data transfer speeds of up to 20 Gbps, and the SSD delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 2,000 MB/s.
This means it won’t take long to transfer games and other files to and from the PS5’s internal storage if needed (the console can run PS4 games from external drives, but not PS5 titles) . This is also a useful option when moving files between different computers. Alternatively, you can use it to store your 4K movie collection.
